The Sudanese army has released a video of its chief, Lt-Gen Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, marching among cheering soldiers in an unknown location in Khartoum.
Gen Burhan is equipped with a rifle and a pistol in the rare 23-second footage released on Wednesday. He can be seen wearing a military uniform and shaking hands with cheering soldiers.
“The fighter – Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces – among his soldiers at the field,” the video’s headline reads.

This is the first film of its kind since the ongoing armed battle between the army and its opponent, the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), began on April 15. However, in the early days of the war, Gen Burhan and other military leaders were observed leading forces from an unnamed facility in Khartoum.
Both the army head and his opposing RSF commander, Gen Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo, often known as Hemedti, have attempted to bolster morale among their respective combatants.

Hemedti made a similar presentation in Khartoum in an unknown place. He also recently denied being slain in an audio message.
The battle, which is fueled by a power struggle between Gen Burhan and Hemedti, has reached its second month, with over 800 people murdered and thousands more injured.
