Many villagers are said to have been killed when an unidentified fighter jet hit Akere town in the Wushishi local government region of Niger State. The event that happened on Tuesday night harmed numerous more villagers.

The most recent occurrence occurred just one month after a similar tragedy at Galadimakogo town in the Shiroro local government district, where at least 20 local hunters were also blasted by an unidentified aircraft. The IBB Specialist Hospital in Minna, the state capital, continues to treat individuals who were hurt in the incident.

It was discovered that the Akere blast occurred at the same time that 100 bandits assaulted the neighborhood, spreading havoc, robbing more than 300 animals, and kidnapped numerous locals.

The villagers bombed were hiding behind trees from bandits when the calamity happened, according to a community leader in neighbouring Zungeru who confirmed the story to THISDAY on the condition of anonymity.

According to him, “We cannot say whether the aircraft belongs to the government or bandits.”

Also, it was reported that on the same Tuesday, at least 50 gunmen stormed the Kwazi hamlet in the Rafi local government region of the state, killing 5 people and robbing roughly 150 cows.

Earlier on Tuesday, three villagers from the Dandaudu community in the state’s Munya local government area were killed and fifteen more were kidnapped. During the incident, five more people were shot, including two ladies. Not fewer than 150 livestock were taken by the gunmen as they fled.

Attempts to reach DSP Wasiu Abiodun, Police Public Relations Officer for the Niger State Police Command, to ask him to confirm the occurrence failed because his lines were cut off.

Yet, when reached by phone, State Commissioner for Internal Security, Mr. Emmanuel Umar, did not confirm or deny the Akere incident.
